Tortoises can grow very large depending on the species and can live for 50-100 years, again, depending on the species. Tortoises will need at least a 50 gallon or more terrarium with 2"-3" of reptile-safe substrate. Most tortoises require temperatures between 72-95 degrees F during the day and between 70-80 degrees at night with humidity between 30%-60% depending on the species. Again, research your specific tortoise for temperature and humidity requirements. Most tortoises need a UVB lamp near the basking place of over the entire enclosure with a heat lamp over a basking spot. Put large hides on the warm and cool sides of the tank.
Most tortoises eat dark leafy greens and grasses/hay. You can purchase pelleted blends and feed daily. They also eat fruits such as berries, melon, kiwi etc. You'll need a bowl of fresh water at all times.
